Handcrafted Treasure Boxes

Crafted by Mr. Vernon Johnson, woodcrafter.  A retired federal worker,  Mr. Johnson has been designing and crafting wood for years.  He designed and crafted our pulpit and altar!  He is a wonderful person with a big, loving heart.

Mr. Johnson used a variety of woods and moldings to craft the boxes.  You have a choice of plain to highly intricate designs....some with a special technique used by me to highlight subtle carvings in the trim.

The hardware is from Horton-Brasses in Ct...quality hardware that will last.  I wanted only the best for these vessels of treasures.  They were originally made to hold the African Heritage Bible.  Brass plates can be ordered with inscription of family name, etc.

The boxes were hand-finished by me after the first few were made.  I wanted to have the privilege of finishing these treasures, so I involved myself  up to my neck in lacquer, varnishes, stains, sanding products, etc.  It was messy but it was a joy to see the finished product.
