Traveling to the mountainous region of Fond Verrette was a real experience!. This region possesses some of the most spectacular mountains in Haiti. The panorama of majestic, but often barren mountains deforested for wood to make charcoal, is almost beyond description. To me, it looked like another world! Roads were unpaved and precipitous and dangerous curves abounded! One had to hold their breath and pray that there would be no oncoming trucks or buses - especially around the curves.

I met with these brethren and outlined an economic development plan with
them. They insisted that I meet with them after I met with the women to
discuss a plan of economic development. After the service, we all posed for group photos in front of the church and the unfinished building that was to be the home of Pastor Sylvio and family. Pastor Joseph Sylvio is a young man with a heart for the Lord Jesus. He needs help with his school and church which were destroyed in the last hurricane. He needs a generator to provide electrical power for lights in Robio, one of the more remote districts of which he oversees. A generator would enable them to provide adult education in the evening. The Gospel is being taught, and men and The schools are woefully inadequate, especially the primary schools.
Without a primary education, the
children would never get to secondary school. They will remain in the
chains of illiteracy! There are no colorful teaching aides for the little
ones. Paper is scarce and pencils are precious. Can you help us to
help them? Would you like to support this community in Fond Verrette? If so, you may select to help this ministry by clicking the donation button here. Good News Pastor Sylvio and Bro. Emmanuel attended the CAWST Clean Water Filter Course in Haiti and were certified as BioSand Filter technicians in August 2007! Fond Verrette's Educational Project We planted food
crops in Fond Verrette that is now providing the salary for 5 teachers in Fond
Verrette while MOM supports4 teacher salaries to educate the poorest of
the poor in Robio in a very mountainous and isolated area of Fond Verrette.
School supplies were purchased and distributed to 260 children.
The Fond Verrette School is shown here. Distribution of supplies, classroom session, the teachers and pupils and free lunch from MOM! Click on Photos to Enlarge. The Robio School - Located in a very mountainous region, these poorest of the poor in Fond Verrette District received school supplies and lunch from MOM support. They really need sustained support for a lunch program because the kids are malnourished and hungry most of the time! We need $240 US dollars per month per school to provide hot meals to a total of 260 little ones. Will you help us to feed them with a tax-deductible donation? MOM sponsors 4 teachers for this school thanks to the generous support of the Women's Bible Study at Largo Community Church in Mitchellville, MD. Economic Development Under the leadership of Pastor Sylvio, economic development is alive and well. He holds regular meetings with the church members and encourages and supports their entrepreneurial efforts as seen in these photos. Your donation will help impoverished persons to become self-employed business persons providing goods and services in their community. Pastor Sylvio provides training for aspiring business-minded villagers, and makes small investments into their new little businesses to get them started and stabilized. Thank you for helping a villager to become financially independent!
