This year has been a very challenging one for us, but God has sustained us through it all.  We suffered major losses in Haiti due to the earthquake, flooding from torrential rains and hurricanes. My husband and the president of MOM, Dr. Edward Fisher, suffered a massive stroke on July 10.  But God stepped in and performed a miracle in his life.  He is progressing well with only a bit of aphasia remaining for which he is receiving speech therapy.  He has retired from his private practice of medicine after 43 years of service.

Hurricane Tomas - November 5, 2010

Hurricane Tomas roared Raging Sea698.jpg (60034 bytes) through our bakery center and left a trail of property damage and destruction and sadly, some lost lives.  These photos show the aftermath of this hurricane in Petite Riviere de Nippes.

Click on the photos to see  enlarged images of photos taken at the bakery.

Torrential Rain and Flooding - Anse-a-veau - February 2010

Anse-aveau suffered through torrential rains in the aftermath of the earthquake.  Agriculture in the community was destroyed as flood waters flooded gardens and large tracts of planted fields.  Homes and businesses were slammed with flood waters which left tons of mud deposited on properties and businesses.  Mud was everywhere!

Click on the photos below to see some of the devastation.

The Robio School  - Located in a very mountainous region, these poorest of the poor in Fond Verrette District received school supplies and lunch from MOM support.  They really need sustained support for a lunch program because the kids are malnourished and hungry most of the time!  We need $240 US dollars per month per school to provide hot lunch to a total of 260 little ones.  Will you help us to feed them with a tax-deductible donation?

MOM sponsors 4 teachers for this school thanks to the generous support of the Women's Bible Study at Largo Community Church in Mitchellville, MD.

We shipped tents for the collapsed GOC University, school supplies, a solar-powered water filtration system, purchased small solar ovens and developed and paid for a human-powered satellite system to bring the remote village of Dupuy 2 in De Nippes on-line.  The project is paid in full!  We have encountered delays due to hurricane damage to structures at the center, but we are almost ready to go on-line using the Pedal Watts System.

If you have already made your year-end gift to Mercy Outreach Ministry International, Inc.
